Biography
Esmaeil Mousavi was born in Yasuj, Iran in 2001 and came to the United States in 2022 to continue his studies in computer science. At Weber State University he moved from assistant researcher to lead researcher, working on perception for autonomous vehicles with reinforcement learning and 3D LiDAR, decentralized swarm learning for collaborative obstacle recognition, machine-learning defenses against acoustic denial-of-service attacks on storage hardware, and predictive modeling on decade-long environmental sensor datasets. While still an undergraduate he co-designed and taught CS 6300, a graduate-level course in route planning and navigation for autonomous systems, with hands-on labs on TurtleBot, InDro, and F1Tenth platforms.
At age 17 he designed an internal-combustion engine architecture called the Two-Stroke X-Shaped Engine and took it through the full Patent Cooperation Treaty filing process on his own. The World Intellectual Property Organization published it in 2020 as WO/2020/026037 (application PCT/IB2019/051532, IPC F02B 75/22). It is a published international application rather than a granted patent.
navNote grew out of his research at Weber State. What began as a faculty-mentored project in Ogden, Utah became a company: an AI OS for retail where agents interpret what is happening on the store floor, reason about what should happen next, and move real work through a mobile layer, cloud agents, and a live operations dashboard. Mousavi has raised over $250K in angel investment plus non-dilutive state and university awards, built partnerships with Kroger, mimik Technologies, Perplexity, and iHub Utah, and assembled an executive and advisory board drawn from senior leaders at large enterprises. In 2026 he relocated navNote's technical operations to San Jose, California.
